Farming is in our blood; it’s our history and our way of life.
Robert and Bunny Richards established the Meadowbrook Acres dairy farm in 1958 in Milton, Vermont. Their sons, Donnie and Mike Richards, grew up on the farm and continued to operate the farm after Robert died in 2002.
Donnie's wife, Teresa Richards, keeps the farm organized, and her son Eric Stebbins and his wife Erin are the next generation to run the farm.
Dairy farming runs deep in the Stebbins family, too. Eric is a fifth-generation farmer—his great-great-grandfather began farming in Sheldon, Vermont, in the 1800s. The Stebbins Farm is still an active dairy farm today. Eric spent many hours there as a kid playing in the hay mow and learning about farm life.
Meadowbrook Acres is primarily an agricultural dairy business. We milk 200 Holstein cows and are a member of the Dairy Farmers of America Cooperative, where the milk we produce is processed and distributed throughout the Northeast.
Milk travels from the farm to the store shelves in 48 hours or less, and so there's a good chance that you could be supporting our farm when you buy local dairy products in Vermont and the greater New England region. Read more about the farm.
Rising costs and milk prices are an every day challenge for Vermont dairy farmers. We added maple syrup production to our farm in 1998 to help diversify, and our maple business has been growing ever since.
Thank you for supporting both local dairy and maple syrup in Vermont! You're helping to keep family farms like ours in business.
